  Introduction

Béla Bugár

Dear reader,

It is my pleasure to greet those of you who have with interest taken into your hands this book representing the evidence of the human efforts, good will, effort to pull something off and with the joint strength to overcome not little obstacles. This everything had to be possessed by the people who dreamed about and created the Europe Place, so that this unique complex of buildings could in its whole beauty offer its visitors with the spiritual and practical experience.

Probably it is not the coincidence that this initiative deserving the full appreciation could arise and be realised in Komárno. The spirit of the town, its culture and rich history have always had the beneficial and constructive influence over the minds of the people living here. This town is the scene of great meetings. Here is the meeting point of the rivers Váh and Danube, here was already in the past the meeting point of the significant commercial routes dividing Europe from the north to south and from the east to west, here is the meeting point of the history of several european nations.

Those who initiated the establishment of the Europe Place and realised it, outrunning the history, have created the unique Europe. Every European coming here can have the feeling that he or she returned home. We are at home, in the arms of the walls of the colourful multicultural - manifold and unique at the same time, proud and elegant and though welcoming, multifarious and though radiating the harmony.

I wish that the old continent becomes our common home full of this warm atmosphere, where the uniqueness of the individual nations create the picturesque, strong and united Europe with the tolerant spiritual world.

With regards,
Béla Bugár
